MZFW)的定義為：航空器受限於載重強度和適航要求而在未裝載可用燃油和其他特定溶劑之情況下的最大重量。

Maximum weight allowed before usable fuel and other specified usable agents must be loaded in defined sections of the aircraft as limited by strength and airworthiness requirements.(2) 最大起飛重量(Maximum design Take-Off Weight

MTOW)的定義為：航空器在起飛時受限於載重強度和和適航要求的最大重量(也就是開始起飛滾行時的最大重量)。

Maximum weight for take-off as limited by aircraft strength and airworthiness requirements. (This is the maximum weight at start of the take-off run.)(3) 最大滑行重量(Maximum design Taxi Weight

MTW)的定義為：航空器在地面操作時受限於載重強度和適航要求的最大重量(包含滑行和滾動的燃油重量)。

Maximum weight for ground maneuver as limited by aircraft strength and airworthiness requirements. (It includes weight of taxi and run-up fuel.)(4) 最大降落重量(Maximum design Landing Weight

MLW)的定義為：航空器受限於載重強度和適航要求而可以降落的最大重量。

機身還有一個中間油箱；三個油箱的總容積為6875加侖(26025公升)。

但容積並不是真正的重點

重量才是。

各個主翼油箱可裝載8630磅(3915公斤)的燃油

中間油箱則可裝載28803磅(13066公斤)的燃油

因此最大可用燃油重量為46063磅(20896公斤)。

以波音737-800為例

最大零油重量(MZFW)是136000磅(61690公斤)

最大滑行重量(MTW)是173000磅(78472公斤)
